Things are a bit different than when we started in 2014... Today, we invite you on a special behind-the-scenes tour, right into the heart of Elijah's Xtreme. Let's walk through the journey our sauces take from farm to bottle.
Step 1: Sourcing the Best Ingredients
Our hot sauce journey starts long before the cooking begins - it starts with the ingredients. We source the highest-quality, fresh chilies from trusted farmers. It's not just about the heat, it's also about flavor. Each variety of chili pepper we use adds a distinctive touch to our sauces.
Step 2: Blending Fresh Peppers
Once we've got our top-notch chilies, we blend them with a mix of secret ingredients. We choose not to ferment our peppers and this is why our sauces are so vibrant and fresh with flavor. You can truly taste every ingredient down to the hint of lime in our Ghost Pepper Sauce or the touch of Kentucky Bourbon in our Reaper Sauce.
Step 3: Cooking
After blending, it's time to turn up the heat! The mixture is simmered, reducing and thickening it, and helping all the flavors meld together. This is also when we add a little apple cider vinegar, naturally preserving it without adding too much of a tang.
Step 4: Bottling
We carefully bottle each batch of our hot sauce to preserve the taste and freshness. It’s a delicate process, ensuring each drop of the sauce is captured, and every bottle is perfectly sealed. Now, the sauce is ready for its journey to your home.
Step 5: Quality Check
But wait, we're not done yet! Every batch goes through a rigorous quality check. We sample each one to ensure it’s up to our high standards. Only then is it ready for you to savor and enjoy.
