Chicken and dumplings is the ultimate comfort food! Homemade dumplings in a creamy chicken soup mixed with Elijah's Ghost Pepper to top it off!
Chicken and Dumplings Recipe | Elijah's Xtreme
4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 32oz cartons of chicken broth, start qith 1 1/2 then add the rest if too thick
3 cans cream of chicken soup
1/2 - 1 tsp of Elijah's Xtreme Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce
2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups self-rising flour
1 cup shortening
1 1/2 - 2 cups milk
Cook chicken and shred into bite sized pieces. Set aside.
In a large bowl, mix flours and shortening. Add milk a little at a time and mix until it forms a soft dough. On a floured surface, roll or pat out dough to ¼ inch thickness. Cut into small squares.
In a dutch oven, combine broth, soups and Elijah’s Xtreme Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce and bring to a boil. Add chicken and then add dumplings one at a time. Stir lightly and add black pepper to taste. Return to boil and reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
